The Super Bowl Halftime Meltdown Reveals How Dumb MAGA Conservatives Are

“The most revealing thing about the Super Bowl halftime show was not Bad Bunny, Kid Rock, or even Donald Trump deciding this was a useful place to weigh in,” Colby Hall begins his article.

“It was how quickly millions of people volunteered to be furious on cue, as if anger were a civic duty rather than an emotional habit that has gotten wildly out of hand.”

Hall tells us that it was just a halftime show, meant to refresh drinks and argue about guacamole, not unify the nation, and getting mad about it is like getting mad at someone’s choice of screensaver.

He reminds us that Conservatives saw it as an insult to everything American … and that’s where he should have left it. But he couldn’t stop there. He had to play into the both-sides nonsense, an absurd claim that the progressive left on social media had rushed into the vacuum to deify Bad Bunny as a God – which according to Hall was an equally performative excess or outrage. Which, of course, is nonsense. All progressives had done, prior to the event, was to point out their stupidity – that Bad Bunny is not American, not patriotic and hates America, and to counter that bullshit with pointing out how it’s actually MAGA that is unpatriotic and hates this country.

“TPUSA counter-programmed,” Colby continues. “Trump posted. Everyone behaved exactly as expected, which is the real indictment…

“What’s striking is how badly people seem to want the halftime show to matter. Not to entertain. Not to amuse. But to validate their worldview…”

What’s puzzling about this article is how someone could conflate both reactions as equally bad. One side had a total meltdown about a Super Bowl halftime show, like they do every year. And the other side, the sensible side, did not.

Only one side here – MAGA – inflated the significance of the halftime show to validate their worldview:  bigotry and racism, and that America is perfect, and should never be criticized.
